Battle 4 Tav VS Grey Knights

Battle 4
Tau vs Grey Knights

On my fourth battle I was introduced to the save everything wonderful Grey Knights who came in and slaughtered me! hahah it was a pretty horrific. Before we deployed or started the game he warned me about his 30 inch shunt and when I deployed I put my pathfinders in distance for them to get run up on and then flamed to their deaths. On a crazy turn of events during that turn he didn't roll for dangerous terrain tests and we rolled for it and he ended up loosing his flamer in the process which saved me a bunch of pathfinders. But that didn't slow the knights down. They came in and assaulted everything in their path even my Ethereal but it didn't matter everything was killed before I got to windle down his Terminator's and Paladin's. I was able to slay the warlord the Dreadkinght but That was about it. Overall a huge learning game for me and how powerful the Grey Knight army is. Until next time Knights of Cheddar I'll get you back!

Battle 3 - Imperial Guard Re MATCH!

Battle 3
Imperial Guard vs The Tau  (Re Match)

This battle turned out in a different way. After deployment I was shocked to see how many planes and vehicles he brought and I wasn't sure if I had planned for that. I got some help from a fellow war gamer here at the studio and he showed me the best route to take with my Crysis suits and my Commander. I deep striked right next to his tank and opened it up with a fusion blaster and then used the flamer and torched almost everyone who came piling out. After learning that technique I love the suits and their can openers haha. This game was another learning experience for me and after holding down a few objectives I end up winning for the first time!

Battle 2
Tau vs Imperial Guard (500 Points)

Fresh off the loss the Tau army wanted to strengthen it's forces and get some training in to learn the ropes. This game was really all about learning my army and what each unit did and how to roll for them. Something I am still learning. There is a lot of stats to keep track of and remember. I learned during this battle how important the fire warriors are and how much Kroot are just a meat shield on the battlefield. I'm sure there are some great ways to utilize them but at the moment I will stick to what my army does best. This game also opened up my eyes to how important it is for the Tau to let the opponent set up or deploy first. I have a lot to learn before I start winning so far I am enjoying painting the models more than playing but I can see that changing as time goes on. I am very new to war gaming and so this blog will be my way of tracking what I learn along the way and usually a lot of what not to do. Failing and making mistakes is my #1 way to get better at something. Learned that from skateboarding.
Battle 1

The Sisters vs The Tau

This was the first battle for the Tau. They were slaughtered by the Sister army and they stormed over the Tau taking out almost the entire army. Since I didn't understand the game and how point values work or anything like that I just brought my entire Battleforce Set and used all of the models during the first battle. Being WAY over the point limit probably it didn't matter Commander Riggs put a stop to ignorant Tau and taught them a lesson.
